Population health advice grounded in system experience.
Delivered by accredited public health specialists and consultants with extensive leadership experience across government, local authorities, and the NHS.
Robust analysis and practical strategy, delivered in weeks rather than quarters.
The problems we’re asked to solve:
“We have the data, but we don’t have the answer.”
Dashboards, JSNA chapters, national returns, provider submissions. What you need is a defensible read on where need actually sits and what to do about it.
We turn complex data into decisions your board will back and your finance colleagues will accept.
“The system is too complex to know where to start.”
From neighbourhood health to system integration, complex structures and competing demands often trigger strategic paralysis.
We cut through the noise to pinpoint what matters most, turning complexity into a clear, prioritised path forward.
“My team needs skills we can’t recruit for.”
Experienced population health capacity is thin and getting thinner. Professional development opportunities are getting harder.
We develop capability inside your team rather than creating a dependency on us. Bespoke, practical, and delivered by people still doing the work.
Our story
Why we are here
We founded Ethica in 2022. We were three public health specialists who had worked for years across government, health services and private sector consulting. Over time, we kept encountering the same problem from both sides of the table.
On the commissioning side, we had worked alongside consultancies that arrived late, delivered generic, poor quality - work, and often relied on inexperienced juniors staff. We had spent time having to explain basic concepts of public health to people who didn’t seem to understand the problems.
On the delivery side, we recognised how good work could be delivered at pace, but in a sector which was dominated by large firms (with even larger overheads) and smaller teams who lacked experience or capability.
So we built the firm we had wanted to hire: senior, accredited - delivering high quality outputs at pace.
What we have done since
Over our first four years we have delivered projects from London to California, working with local government, the NHS as well as non-governmental partners. Today Ethica brings together public health experts and practitioners from across Europe and North America, with experience spanning the United Kingdom, North America, and Asia Pacific.
Working across systems is how we’ve learnt which parts of a problem are genuinely local - and which are not. That’s important when you are advising a client on a decision they’ve never had to make before.
What we hold to
Equity. We are committed to a fairer society, which means tackling the social gradient and its effects on health outcomes rather than only its symptoms.
Collaboration. We work from your team's knowledge outwards. Asset-based is a term that gets used loosely; for us it means we do not arrive assuming we know your system better than you do.
Evidence. We are guided by real-world evidence, and we will tell you where the evidence is weak rather than dress it up.
